Aspects of AngusSource® are getting a makeover.

AngusSource® Genetic and Tag Store tags are getting a makeover. Destron Fearing has introduced Dark & Durable as their standard tag mark beginning Aug. 1, 2013.

What is Dark & Durable? The same truly indestructible laser mark used today is etched into the tag surface using a computer-guided laser beam. Next, the laser-marked management number is overlaid with black ink that penetrates into the tag, which results in very bold, black numbers that will be easy to read in the field.

Another exciting product enhancement occurring this summer is the introduction of the ProGrip II Universal Tag Applicator. The new design feature is a wider clip bed for inserting those tamper-evident radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, the handle coating is thicker, and there is a stronger spring and a tapered pin for easy release of the tag stud. This copper-handled tagger can be used to apply all Destron Fearing tags from visual to RFID. The red-handled Pro Grip Universal Tagger will still do an excellent job of applying tags. No need to change taggers unless you are ready for a new one.

While we are talking about a makeover, have you seen the weekly email that lists AngusSource Genetic calves that are selling?

ASG AS

This email listing gives a brief summary of calves selling and goes out each Sunday showing AngusSource Genetic calves that will be sold during the week. Now the listing shows dollar value indexes ($Values) for each group selling. These indexes provide buyers a quick look at the genetic potential of each lot.

Once a producer enrolls, there is a document generated for each enrollment group that lists the sires used and their current expected progeny differences (EPDs), the group age and the source of the enrolled calves. Producers have the option to add when and where the calves are selling, as well as vaccination information and any other management and carcass data they have to share with potential buyers. If producers want their calves included in the AngusSource Genetic calves email, they must provide, at minimum, the number of head, the date and location the calves will be sold.

Buyers who want to sort information on the calves for sale can visit www.angussource.com to customize their search criteria by state, steers vs. heifers, health practices and marketing method. If you want to sign up to receive the weekly email, you can do so on the website.
