Association Perspective

Don’t miss the all new Angus Means Business
National Convention & Trade Show.

Make plans now to attend the 2014 American Angus Association’s Angus Means Business National Convention & Trade Show Nov. 4-6 in Kansas City, Mo. I know, as a commercial cattleman, you’re thinking “What’s in it for me?” Well, one of the main reasons the location, format and agenda changed was to provide the opportunity for commercial producers to attend this event. Here are a few reasons you should be there.

Angus University, just what the name implies, is an opportunity to learn about the “stuff” influencing Angus genetics, plus all the programs designed specifically for commercial cattlemen. DNA technology, feed efficiency and carcass merit will be among the many topics in the curriculum. Find out about selection tools being used today and what’s in store for tomorrow. In-depth information about AngusSource® Genetic, GeneMax™, and the Certified Angus Beef® (CAB®) brand will be provided in the Angus Business workshops. The best news will be your opportunity to interact with industry experts, Association personnel and other commercial cattlemen. You can even go to the Association headquarters for a tour.

One of the keynote speakers is Richard Picciotto, the highest-ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center collapse — and the last fireman to escape the devastation. His account of the tragedy and the heroes who emerged will inspire and move you. Other highlights of the convention include a fantastic trade show that will feature anything and everything to do with the cattle business. Throughout the event, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and visit with registered Angus breeders from across the nation. No matter where you are from in the United States, there will be an Angus breeder from your area with which to visit. The meals will, of course, feature the best beef in the world, Certified Angus Beef.

Attendee registration and lodging information will be available online at www.angus.org by April 1. Stay tuned to the website for more details in the following weeks. Association members should also keep an eye on their mailboxes for more information. Registration is encouraged before Oct. 1, the early-bird deadline.
