Visit the Angus Trade Show this November

Here are highlights you won’t want to miss during the 2015 National Angus Convention & Trade Show in Overland Park, Kan.

More than 130 trade show exhibitors will welcome participants to the 2015 Angus Means Business National Convention & Trade Show Nov. 3-5 at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kan. From animal health companies to equipment manufacturers, registered-Angus breeders to publications, there’s something for everyone on the trade show floor.

2014 trade show“Our trade show is more than double the size from 2014, and we’re looking forward to convention attendees experiencing all the trade show has to offer,” says Becky Weishaar, Creative Media director for Angus Media and lead contact for the event. “Each exhibitor brings something different, and our partners have planned some engaging activities within their booths this year.”

As you’re making plans for the convention, here are a few trade-show highlights you will want to put on your list.

Drive a Cat® Skid Steer Loader

Thanks to a generous donation from Caterpillar, one lucky attendee will take home a brand new Cat® 262 Skid Steer Loader. Make sure and stop by the Caterpillar booth, 529, to try it on for size and participate in the Skid Steer Loader Operator Challenge, where participants can show off their driving skills and compete in a timed obstacle course. The winner of the Cat 262 Skid Steer Loader will be announced in the trade show at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, and you must be present to win.

Enter to win a Priefert S0191 Squeeze Chute

Visit the Priefert booth, 831, to learn more about the S0191 Model Squeeze Chute to be given away to a convention attendee at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. All convention attendees present that day will be eligible to win. Using Priefert’s most popular headgate, the HG91, the chute is designed to help reduce the danger involved in restraining cattle and increase operator ease and efficiency. Don’t miss your opportunity to take home this piece of equipment that retails at more than $3,100.

Start your holiday shopping in the retail booths

Located just outside the trade show doors, you can do some shopping with a number of retail exhibitors. Western clothing, boots, artwork and jewelry are just a few of the items to be on display.

At their booth located at 102C, Legacy Livestock Imaging will be hosting a silent auction for a framed, 16-inch (in.) × 20-in. print No. 1 of the image titled “It Ain’t the Years, It’s the Miles.” All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Angus Foundation in support of its education, youth and research initiatives. Visit Legacy Livestock Imaging’s Facebook page for more details on the print.

2014 trade showYou’ll also want to check out the latest Angus merchandise sold through the Angus Foundation and the American Angus Auxiliary Gift Barn, where all proceeds go toward supporting Angus youth and the next generation of the business breed.

Visit with the American Angus Association

Bring your questions and ideas to representatives of the American Angus Association in booth 423 at the center of the trade show. Staff members will be on hand to discuss the latest genomic technology and performance information, provide assistance with the online recordkeeping service AAA Login, and share tips for promoting and marketing your cattle operation.

While at the Angus booth, you can also enter to win a pair of Horsepower boots for him or a pair of Macie Bean boots for her, courtesy of Nigro’s Western Store in Kansas City, Kan. Winners will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Watch demonstrations from Certified Angus Beef LLC

Want tips for preparing the perfect beef roast? Chef Tony Biggs with Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB) will demonstrate and showcase CAB’s “Roast Perfect” smartphone app, which is now available on iTunes or Google Play. Visit with the chef and other CAB representatives in the trade show, located in booth 413, beside the American Angus Association. Stop by and learn how to target the Certified Angus Beef® (CAB®) brand through your herd genetics.

2014 trade show“In a few weeks, the Angus Convention will be under way in the Overland Park Convention Center,” Weishaar says. “There’s much in store in addition to the trade show, including leading educational seminars, keynote speakers and live-animal demonstrations.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, convention attendees will enjoy a Trade Show Gala featuring Kansas City Blues and BBQ, prior to country singer Sammy Kershaw's taking the stage.

Guests may register for $150 per person, which includes access to Angus University, the International Angus Genomics Symposium and all the educational sessions, the Kershaw concert, the expansive trade show and three delicious CAB meals.
