Two New Northern Regional Managers

Regional managers hired for Northwest and Northeast regions.

The American Angus Association® has named regional managers for two of its 13 regions. Jared Patterson, Middleton, Idaho, will serve the Northwest Region, including Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Reese Tuckwiller, Lewisburg, W.Va., will serve the Northeast Region composed of Delaware, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina.

Jared Patterson

Jared Patterson
Patterson joins the Association from the American Hereford Association, where he represented the West Region.

“Jared has an established presence in the West,” said David Gazda, Association director of field services. “His cattle knowledge, experience and work ethic will make him a great addition to the team.”

Prior to joining the American Hereford Association, he was the Northwest Region manager for Allflex after being a ranch manager for Genoa Livestock in Minden, Nev. He also manages a small commercial cow-calf operation in southern Idaho.

“I’m most excited to grow the use of Angus genetics in an area that has a high concentration of commercial cattle operations,” Patterson said. “I’m looking forward to working with Angus breeders and their customers to expand the Angus footprint in the West.”

Patterson grew up on a commercial cow-calf operation in southern Idaho and showed Herefords in the junior program. He graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science after getting his associate degree from Casper College, where he was also on the livestock judging team.

Reese Tuckwiller

Reese Tuckwiller
Tuckwiller joins the Association from Western Sire Service where he was the production manager.

“Reese has gained valuable industry experience since graduation,” said Gazda. “He possesses a strong knowledge of the breed through his involvement in his family’s registered Angus operation in West Virginia.”

Prior to joining Western Sire Service, Tuckwiller was the West Virginia University livestock judging coach, and he’s been the assistant herdsman on his family’s farm since January 2002, where he is a ninth-generation cattleman.

“This Angus territory raised me, and I’m looking forward to helping the next generation in that area,” Tuckwiller said. “We can sometimes take the quality of cattle from the East Coast for granted, and I hope to be able to reflect the quality to others.”

Tuckwiller grew up on a registered Angus seedstock farm, showed Angus cattle, and served on the National Junior Angus Board, first as director, then as vice chairman. He graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in production management and had several herdsman and animal science internships before graduation.
