    Financial Options for Expansion

Third-generation rancher expands herd and improves pastureland with short-term credit facility.

Recognized as symbols of strength and determination, female farmers and cattle ranchers are one of the cornerstones of today’s agriculture industry. Their presence in all aspects of the operation has paved the way for greater discussions around their influence and contributions to farming. These remarkable strengths were evident in an eastern Montana cattle rancher who came to AgAmerica looking for a loan program that would help her rebuild her breeding stock and make irrigation upgrades to her pastureland.

    Family Farms Protection Bill

Legislation to preserve family farms introduced in Congress.

Several agriculture groups announced strong support for the Preserving Family Farms Act of 2019. Introduced by U.S. Representatives Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) and Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.), this bipartisan legislation would expand IRS Code Section 2032A to allow more ranchers and farmers to take advantage of the special-use valuation and protect family-owned businesses from the devastating effects of the death tax.

    Association Perspective

    Get off the ranch.

Wake up. Check cows. Fix stuff. Repeat. There are so many days a rancher will only speak to their spouse, their dog and their cattle. Don’t get me wrong, I know tasks on a ranch are ever-changing as the cows really don’t care what you had planned in your schedule. However, it is so easy to go weeks or even months where the only time you leave the ranch is to go to the coffee shop or a trip to the local farm and ranch store. Most would agree that sounds perfect, but is it really taking your business to the next level?

Cattlemen Gather in Reno for 2019 Angus Convention

Thousands of producers traveled west to celebrate the Business Breed.

More than 1,700 attendees made the 2019 Angus Convention an overwhelming success Nov. 2-4 in Reno, Nev. The American Angus Association met its goal of providing top-notch education, networking and entertainment to those who made the trip west.

    No More Diets

Ten ways to keep holiday eating in check without the guilt.

Diet can be a four-letter word, but it doesn’t have to be. Cattlemen and women pay meticulous attention to what their cattle eat, but seem to have less care in what goes in their own mouths. Or maybe it’s quite the opposite, and they obsess about calories and quantities. That doesn’t have to be the case.
