Pregnancy test offers fast results
Biotracking LLC has announced its new accelerated-results blood pregnancy test for cattle, BioPRYNQK. BioPRYN "Quick" combines the accurate pregnancy detection of the company's regular test with next-day results, but offers same-day results.
Just as with the original test, drawn blood samples are sent to the company's laboratory or any affiliate lab for processing. If a producer wishes to have same-day results, they can now choose the quick option, though at a slightly higher cost. Results will be provided by telephone, e-mail or fax, depending on the sender's preference. The company has more than 20 affiliate laboratories.

Next-generation
grinder mixer
Art's Way Manufacturing Inc. has announced the Model 6520 Grinder Mixer featuring a 165-bushel (bu.)-capacity tank; fully self-contained hydraulics; discharge augers driven by hydraulic orbit motors; high-capacity, 10-inch (in.)-diameter hydraulic-driven discharge system, eliminating bevel gears; a remote control system for auger positioning, tank discharge and operation of the grinder mixer; and double hammers in the hammermill for a more consistent grind and less power requirements.
The size of the tank and the remote control capability lets the 6520 unload 50% faster than any other grinder on the market, according to the release.

Baler that requires
less horsepower
Vermeer Corp. has introduced the Rancher 664 (pronounced sixty-six four for its bale diameter and width), designed for user-friendly operation, sensible budgets and "right-sized" for big bale performance, according to the release.
The company says the new baler fills a niche that many cow-calf producers were asking for — the ability to produce bigger bales with a "right-sized" baler that requires less hp. Minimum tractor hp is 50 hp; 70 hp is recommended. The baler can produce high-density round bales 47 in. wide, up to 66 in. in diameter, and up to 1,450 pounds (lb.), dependent on crop.
The new baler comes with a tested five-bar pickup, heavy-duty steel drive rollers to help maintain belt tension, hardened belt guides to keep belts in line, and a single hydraulic control to adjust bale density.
Additional features include four-ball twine storage, highway light assembly, SMV sign and HaySaver Wheels. Options include work lights, moisture sensing, chain oiler, hydraulic pick-up lift, fire extinguisher, spring-loaded bale ramps, and extended warranty.

Heavy-duty
trailed mower
Vermeer has introduced the heavy-duty TM850 trailed mower with the ability to mow a high volume of acres, a new design, a patent-pending hydraulic suspension system and a three-year cutterbar warranty.
The new mower offers a molded hood that lifts up out of the way for full access to the cutterbar for routine service and maintenance, and to minimize debris build-up. The TM850 has a patent-pending self-aligning driveline system for smooth operation in all tongue positions to closely follow ground contours and pivot up and over hidden obstacles for excellent cutting. No tools are needed in the field to make suspension setting changes.
Cutting height is adjustable from 1.25 in. to 3 in. Hydraulic cutterbar pitch control (from 0° to 6°) sets cutting height and allows the operator to adjust for different crops and conditions without the use of tools.
Tractor hook-up is as easy as the drop of a pin to quickly move from the farm to the field with no three-point arm attachment connected. A 50-hour extended lube driveline is included. The 2,420-lb. unit requires a 540-rpm drive system with minimum drawbar hp of 60. Hydraulic requirements include two pair of auxiliary remote outlets.

Carted wheel rake with expanded capacity
The VR1224 Carted WheelRake is now available from Vermeer. This 12-wheel model expands the VR series rake lines to include three models — 8-wheel, 10-wheel and 12-wheel. Rake widths are easily adjustable and range from 20 ft. minimum to 24 ft. 5 in. maximum to accommodate different swaths or mower windrow widths.
The telescoping toolbar provides excellent tire clearance in all rake width settings, and the channel tongue comes with adjustable hitch heights. The VR1224 can also be switched to work as a single-sided rake — with left- or right-side configurations — for turning windrows. Narrow width and flat folding rake wheels provide fast and easy transport, according to the release.
