Expanded approval
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted approval for feeding Optaflexx® (ractopamine hydrochloride) to beef cattle during the final 28 to 42 days of the finishing period. Cattle feeders of any size may now feed Optaflexx as a topdress or in a complete feed to increase live weight gain and improve feed efficiency by helping cattle better utilize nutrients.
Feedyards can feed the topdress just once a day, allowing managers to target pens of cattle with unique needs. Since the medicated feed has a zero-day withdrawal when fed according to the label, feedyard managers can react quickly to changing market conditions.
The company suggests that because Optaflexx is a beta-1 agonist it increases protein synthesis while having little effect on fat metabolism or marbling, unlike beta-2 agonists, which have been shown to negatively affect tenderness in beef due to protein degradation.

Skid-steer and track loaders
JCB has launched a new line of skid-steer loaders and compact track loaders, the first machines from the company that were designed, engineered and manufactured in North America.
The company has introduced a range of seven new skid steers — four wheeled and three tracked — that will eventually grow to 18 models. All seven machines are vertical lift, allowing for increased capacity and more reach at maximum lift height, according to a company release.
The models now available are large platform machines with rated operating capacities (ROC) of 2,600 pounds (lb.) and above. New features for the machines include a tilting cab with increased service access; multifunction joysticks; a hydraulic quick hitch; an isolated cab that is sealed and pressurized with reduced noise levels; a heated air-suspension seat with adjustable armrests; O-ring face seals for all hydraulic connections; and a new range of more than 30 types of attachments.

Grade control system and

Trimble has introduced the AG GCS200 system for agriculture water management. The system is designed for land leveling and drainage applications, and works in conjunction with a laser transmitter to provide automatic machine control of implements such as scrapers and drainage machines.
The system is ideal for implements with PT valves, and can use either rigid mast control or single electric mast control. Key components include the LR410 laser receiver and the new CB60 control box, providing a digital elevation display that can be used in both survey and control modes.
The CB60 control box delivers greater flexibility than its predecessors with configuration options for both surveying and grading. Owners of existing control systems can use the new control box as a drop-in replacement product, so customers with existing P.A. Laser Grade control systems do not need any new cables or components.
The new system and control box are compatible with English or Metric units and can be used with several types of laser-controlled water management and field-leveling products.

Lincoln Electric has introduced the new Tomahawk™ 375 Air. This portable model is the first in a new plasma cutting system line designed for on-site maintenance, service tasks, small construction sites, HVAC work, demolition and rental applications.
The Tomahawk 375 Air includes an internal air compressor, eliminating the need for an external air source. This machine can be used anywhere 208- or 230-volt single-phase 60 Hz power is available.
The 375 Air features continuous output control to focus the plasma arc for up to 5/16 -inch (in.) recommended, ⅜-in. maximum and ½-in. severance cut thicknesses. The machine produces 10-25 amps output and is rated at 25 amps at 90 volts, 35% duty cycle. Tomahawk plasma cutting systems are designed for cutting mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
A Touch Start system delivers reliable plasma arc initiation without high frequency while rapid arc restrike capability ensures users can quickly cut through gaps and expanded metal.
The front-panel purge control makes it easy to adjust airflow without initiating a plasma arc. The new electrode and nozzle design prolongs the life of consumables for cost efficiency, while keeping operating temperatures cool.
As with the entire new Tomahawk line, the 375 Air features the Lincoln Electric Parts-in-Place system that detects proper installation of the torch and consumables for added safety.
This unit can be powered with the company's engine-driven welder/generators, including the Ranger® and Vantage® lines.
Tomahawk 375 Air standard features include an LC25 plasma cutting torch, integrated internal compressor, water separator, air regulator and pressure gauge, cables, spare expendable parts and a handy shoulder strap.
