Featherlite Mosel 8192Dual-use stock trailer

Featherlite Model 8192, introduced for 2012, is designed for haulers of smaller livestock and will also double as a multipurpose car or utility trailer.

Built on a Model 3110 flatbed frame, the bumper-pull trailer features a removable enclosed livestock topper with two top air spaces. Lift rings on the roof of the topper allow for it to be easily removed, allowing the owner to use it to haul other cargo on the flatbed.

The new trailer measures 8 feet (ft.) 6 inches (in.) wide and is 14 ft. long. The topper is 6 ft. 5 in. wide, 5 ft. 5 in. tall and features a full-swing rear door, center gate and escape door on the curbside of the trailer. The new trailer is designed with a skid-resistant extruded aluminum floor and comes with two 6 ft. long ramps that store underneath the trailer for easy loading of automobiles when the topper is removed. It also features removable fenders, wraparound LED stop/turn lights and four stainless steel swivel "D" tie downs.

Digestive enhancement formula

R&D LifeSciences LLC has introduced Trigestamace™ Liquid, a 3-in-1 digestive enhancement formula that includes mannin oligo-saccharides (MOS), beta glucans and enzymes that have been shown to enhance digestion, improve health and increase production when given to dairy and beef cattle, calves, poultry and swine.

A natural product, the new formula can enhance the palatability of the ration, increase fiber digestion and create an optimized ruminal environment. The product can be started in cattle shortly after birth by adding to milk replacers and, in dairies, can be applied directly to the TMR.

Questions regarding the product can be directed to Dave Cook.

New seed corn technology

GrowMark System has announced that two FS seed corn varieties — FS 54VX1 RIB and FS 61BX1 RIB — have the newly-approved Refuge in Bag (RIB) technology, meaning the seed in each bag contains the correct blend of traited and non-traited seed needed to meet refuge requirements for both above- and below-ground pests.

Farmers using Genuity® SmartStax™ seed corn are required to plant 5% of their corn acres with non-traited varieties to help reduce the development of resistant pests. Using the newly available Genuity SmartStax RIB Complete™ corn eliminates the need to dedicate certain acres to refuge.

Farmers interested in using RIB Complete corn this spring should contact their local FS crop specialist or visit www.growmark.com.

AES-25 Assisted steering kitAssisted steering kits for self-propelled windrowers

Agco has announced the AES-25 Accurate Electric Steering Wheel and the System 150 automated steering system to the market for use on select self-propelled windrowers from Hesston® and Challenger® by Massey Ferguson.

Five popular windrower series may be equipped with the new steering systems: the Hesston Series 9000 and 9005, and the Challenger SP110, SP115 and SP185 Series machines. Producers considering the purchase of new Tier 3-compliant machines from dealer stock and the auto-steering package will want to take advantage of purchase incentives.

The offer includes a free System 150, AES-25 electric steering wheel kit and a self-propelled windrower field installation kit with the purchase of a new Challenger or Hesston self-propelled windrower by Massey Ferguson between April 1 and June 30, 2011.

The new steering systems provide accuracy of up to 2 centimeters (cm; 0.8 in.) pass-to-pass, using a position sensor that allows the system 150 to monitor the steering wheel position and make steering corrections faster and more accurately.

The system's quiet, high-torque direct-drive motor has no external components that could interfere with day-to-day operation, can be installed in minutes and transfers easily from machine to machine, according to the release.

Massey Ferguson 8690New engine and emissions technology for row-crop tractors

Massey Ferguson is introducing new row-crop tractors as additions to its MF 8600 Series tractors, including the MF8690 and the Challenger MT685D. Both tractors feature a 290-power takeoff (PTO) hp engines that are interim-Tier 4 compliant to improve fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) use efficiency.

The Massey Ferguson 2011 model numbers will not change; however, the Challenger Series designations will become MT600D. Each series will continue to offer machines with PTO hp ratings of 205, 225, 250 and 275.

Three engineering enhancements combine to provide the improvements in fuel efficiency and utilization of DEF used in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to meet emission compliance standards. First, pressure within the common-rail fuel injection system was increased nearly 50% to more thoroughly atomize fuel, which can improve diesel use and lower overall fuel usage. The addition of an industry-exclusive pivoting cooling system also helps improve fuel efficiency by capturing, cooling and directing unburned fuel back into the fuel system.

Finally, a new DEF injection system featuring a NOx sensor measures the exhaust before it enters the diesel exhaust catalyst. The system then injects the most appropriate rate of DEF needed to match the engine load and best oxidize the emissions being produced to reach the interim-Tier 4 95% NOx reduction requirement.

Cab improvements include new right-side integrated cab steps with adjustable bottom step, new placement and increased capacity of the diesel and DEF tanks with a more open-style fender option.
