Single-injection treatment approved

Bayer Animal Health has announced that Baytril® 100 (enrofloxacin) injectable has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of Mycoplasma bovis — a major pathogen for bovine respiratory disease (BRD).

With this approval, the injectable is now labeled and proven effective as a single-injection treatment for all major pathogens of BRD in cattle and non-lactating dairy heifers less than 20 months of age, including Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and M. bovis.

Clinical field studies of the single-injection treatment efficacy indicated the treatment was effective on more than 70% of calves treated by Day 6; and 88% of calves treated were considered continued successes on Day 10.

More-convenient packaging for turf herbicide

Gowan Co. LLC announces the launch of SedgeHammer+® turf herbicide for nutsedge control. SedgeHammer+ offers a unique product concept in a more-convenient packaging size while maintaining the same efficacy that the market has grown accustomed to with the SedgeHammer brand name. The herbicide is labeled for use on cool- and warm-season turfgrasses, established woody ornamentals and fallow areas.

The herbicide contains a dry, non-ionic surfactant in the formulation, eliminating the need for additional additives when mixing. The built-in surfactant will reduce confusion for the consumer and ensure great results when treating for nutsedge.

The product is being advertised with a three-step pour, mix, spray application process. One packet will treat an area of up to 1,000 square feet (sq. ft.) and is rain-fast within 4 hours.

The product has a federal EPA registration and is currently registered in 39 states. The following states have pending state registrations: California, New York, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, Vermont and Maine.
