Insecticide registration

Gowan Co. LLC and Nisso America Inc. have announced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration of Justice insecticide for control of insect pests in soybeans. Gowan has exclusive rights to market the insecticide within the U.S. market.

Justice insecticide is a dual mode of action premix containing the best-in-class neonicotinoid for aphid control, acetamiprid and bifenthrin for fast knockdown of labeled insect pests with better resistance management.

The insecticide will be marketed in a unique liquid oil flowable (OF) formulation that allows both active ingredients to remain in their most biologically active form. The company says it tested different formulations, but the OF always outperformed the others in field testing.

Justice is a foliar-applied insecticide with use rates ranging from 2.5-3.0 fluid ounces (oz.) per acre. The insecticide has a 30-day preharvest interval (PHI), a 12-hour restricted entry interval (REI), and a 0-day plant-back interval for soybeans and a 30-day plant-back interval for all other crops. Justice is approved for chemigation, ground rig and aerial applications.

New fits for loaders

Curtis Koehn

Westendorf FM-570 on John Deere 7200R

Westendorf Manufacturing Co. Inc. has announced new fits for its patented Freedom Mountâ„¢ FM-570 loader, which places the hydraulic hoses inside the sleek and sturdy arms to suppress wear and tear and allow for unencumbered visibility. The Freedom Mount loaders have a design that allows the operator to use the bucket to take the loader on and off without the need for tools or kick stands. The FM-570 package includes 15 ft. of lift height and 7,990 pounds (lb.) of lift capacity, with the mount system, remote control coupler, mounting brackets and hose kits. The package includes the 98-inch (in.) bucket with 1.3 cubic yards (cu. yd.) of heaped capacity. A full line of attachments is also available. New small-platform skid steer and compact track loaders

JCB has added eight small-platform skid steer and compact track loaders to its New Generation product line. The eight new machines — the 135, 155, 175, 190 and 205 skid steers and the 150T, 190T and 205T compact track loaders — complement the company's nine large-platform models introduced in November 2010.

The 135, 155 and 150T machines feature radial lift, which offers improved digging geometry for heavy-loading applications. Because they contain fewer pins and bushings, radial lift machines perform well in high-cycle applications such as waste, recycling and demolition.

The 175, 190, 205 190T and 205T models offer vertical lift, which provides maximum reach at full height — an important consideration when loading dump trucks, lifting pallets or using an auger attachment.

The small-platform skid steers and compact track loaders provide 21% or better serviceability than competitive models, according to the release. A large opening rear door with a tilting cooling pack provides total access for daily service and routine maintenance. A tilting cab offers unrestricted access to the machine's inner workings when more detailed maintenance is required. Overall, the company says these skid steers and track loaders have 38% fewer parts, 25% fewer leak paths and O-ring face seal fittings throughout, simplifying maintenance and virtually eliminating the possibility of hydraulic leaks.

The new machines feature a side-entry door that allows operators to enter and exit the machines without crawling over any attachments. This design also increases the operator's visibility to 270°. The machine cabs are 46% larger than those offered by the average competitive machine, and operator compartments come standard with a mechanical suspension seat with an option for a heated, air suspension seat with adjustable arm pods. The machines also have the option of a fully enclosed cab with heat and air conditioning.

The company offers 31 families of attachments that can handle virtually any application. The company says the eight new models are also available with an optional hydraulic quick-hitch that enables operators to change out attachments in the field 33% faster.

All-position, flux-cored welding wire

Stoody, a part of Thermadyne Holdings Corp., has introduced the Stoody® 964 AP-G general-purpose hardfacing wire. Achieving a 64 Rockwell C hardness, the all-position wire can produce crack-free deposits on Series 300 stainless and manganese steels.

When logistics dictate hardfacing construction, mining, aggregate and agricultural equipment in position, using the flux-cored wire increases uptime. For field repair situations, the company says the new wire offers vertical up weldability where most chromium carbide wires must be welded in the flat position to obtain proper adhesion. The weld deposit made by 964 AP-G is a specially formulated, wear-resistant alloy that produces a uniform distribution of small primary carbides in a martensitic matrix. The small carbides provide greatly improved wear resistance over martensitic steel, many tool steels and some conventional chromium carbide alloys. The wire is recommended for parts where cross-checking is undesirable.

The wire is available in 0.045-in. and 11/16-in. diameters and is packaged in 33-lb. spools. For additional information visit www.thermadyne.com.
