New Products

Feed additive

Ralco has announced that it has launched a new product, Fight Strong® for Cattle, a natural feed additive for cattle that promotes intake and immunity to help overcome production stress. The product does not require a veterinary feed directive (VFD) because it is formulated with patent-pending natural Strong Animals® technologies.

The new product was developed to help reduce production stress from transportation or handling, poor appetite or a suppressed immune system. The easy-to-use product is typically fed for 28 days and is available as a pellet or as a concentrate for further manufacturing. Ralco Beef Technical Lead Dennis Dieterich said the patented and patent-pending technologies available in the new product provide producers with an effective natural product that drives performance during times of stress.

Dieterich says the new product promotes a balanced gut microflora, stimulates rumen function, feeds beneficial bacteria and promotes appetite. The company knows how important and difficult it can be to get stressed cattle on feed, which is why the company says it takes multiple technologies, working at every level, to keep animals strong and productive.

The new product is formulated with exclusive Microfused™ Essential Oils, Actifibe™ Prebiotic, and Microbial Catalyst® technologies. The product also contains Yucca schidigera and IntegraMOS® to promote digestion.

Liquid formulation herbicide

Valent USA Corp. has announced the release of Valor® EZ, a liquid formulation of the company’s leading herbicide, Valor. Named Valor EZ Herbicide (check state registration status for the product prior to use) for its easy-to-mix, in-tank suspension properties, the liquid formulation herbicide is an ideal residual partner for the Roundup Ready® Xtend Crop System.

With its easy mixing and loading and great suspensibility, the product helps provide growers with a residual herbicide that is easy to use at all stages of the application process.

Available for the 2017 growing season for use on soybeans and cotton, the new liquid formulation provides residual protection against a broad spectrum of weeds, including tough-to-control waterhemp and Palmer amaranth, for four to six weeks.

For the first time ever, the company will offer increased grower incentives on the new formulation for the 2017 growing season when used in next-generation seed systems such as the Roundup Ready® Xtend Crop System and with PhytoGen® Enlist™ varieties. The company is offering a $6-per-acre incentive on qualified purchases through March 31, 2017. Additionally, financing options will be available through John Deere Financial.

To protect soybeans and cotton during the most crucial stages of development and to manage weed resistance, the company recommends proactive herbicide stewardship, including using multiple effective modes of action, crop rotation and applications at full labeled rates.

Hay tools

Kubota Tractor Corp. has introduced two new silage balers and a new trailed disc mower roller conditioner to its hay-tool offerings. The expanded hay tools line brings to the market new variances in the company’s popular line of round balers, including the BV4160SS and BV4180SS for the silage market, and the DMC8540R, a true full-width mower conditioner in a 13-foot (ft.) roller machine.

Kubota DMC8540 Mower Conditioner 4083

Kubota’s new round baler series includes two new models — the BV4160SS and the BV4180SS — that are designed specifically for producers who need the additional silage features. Whether it is baling silage, hay or straw, the BV4160SS is a high-capacity 4-ft.-wide by 5-ft.-high variable-chamber baler that is ready to meet the ever-changing demands of farming.

For a classic, can-do silage model, the BV4160SS comes complete with silage scraper kit for wet haylage and a proportional valve to enable the operator to adjust the bale density on the go. For larger bale production, the BV4180SS delivers 4-ft.-wide and 6-ft.-tall bales, plus all the features of the BV4160SS model. Both models are fitted with a fork feeder intake system providing direct feed into the bale chamber for fast and efficient baling. All BV4160SS and BV4180SS balers come with the Kubota Power Bind Net system, for simple, fast and efficient production bale after bale.

Kubota BV4160 Baler 3150

Kubota has also introduced a new disc mower conditioner, the DMC8540R, which is a 13-ft. mower conditioner with full-width chevron conditioner rollers that can handle fragile crops with even conditioning across the full width for superb swath formation and even drying of the crop. The new mower features Kubota’s own patented, fully-welded cutterbar and full-width conditioning, which sets Kubota apart from the competition.

All Kubota DMC mower conditioners are designed to ensure a high level of durability, low maintenance and quiet operation. With three counter-rotating blades per disc, Kubota mowers are constantly cutting, which allows for one-third less load per blade, an even load on the drive, and smoother power use to produce a neat, clean cut each and every time. The new DMC8540R also offers outstanding suspension, enabling the DMC8540R to follow any type of ground contours, as well as giving maximum protection to the cutterbar to ride over obstacles in the field.

Tillage tools

To help producers prepare a more agronomically sound seedbed, John Deere introduces two new tillage tools.

The new John Deere 2230 Level-lift™ and Floating Hitch Field Cultivator models feature a redesigned frame with stubble-resistant radial tires and no daily maintenance points. The 2230 Field Cultivators are able to provide even and consistent soil mixing and residue flow thanks to true 6-in. split-the-middle shank spacing with TruPosition™ standards that offer 200 lb. of trip force.

John Deere 2230 Field Cultivators

For level or gently rolling ground, the John Deere 2230 Level-Lift™ Field Cultivator comes with three-section or five-section configurations in 15 different sizes ranging in width from 23.5 ft. to 60.5 ft. For level or hilly terrain, customers can select the 2230 Floating Hitch Field Cultivator, available in 14 different widths, from 25.5 ft. to 69.5 ft.

Both the Level-Lift and Floating Hitch field cultivators feature the ProFinish™ Leveling System with six rear harrow options. Hydraulically adjustable flat-bar or round-bar rolling baskets are available, allowing the operator to easily raise, lower or float the baskets as field conditions change.

In addition, TruSet™ Tillage technology is included, giving the operator more precise on-the-go depth and down pressure control from the convenience of the cab. Operators can perform individual section leveling on the 2230FH with TruSet side-to-side. TruSet enables variable depth prescriptions and documentation of tillage passes, helping producers capture more detailed field data for the entire production cycle.

John Deere 2330 Mulch Finisher

To complement the new 2230 field cultivators, the company is rolling out its fully redesigned 2330 Mulch Finisher that enables customers to more effectively size and distribute large amounts of residue while still producing a smooth, even seedbed. The new frame design enables wider working widths, additional rear harrow options and precise adjustability from the cab.

The mulch finisher comes in nine sizes with widths from 21.75 ft. to 56.25 ft. and can operate at field speeds up to 10 mph. It is designed with true 9-in. split-the-middle shank spacing, integrated TruSet technology and many other features similar to the new 2230 field cultivator.

Display and controller options

John Deere Extended Monitor

John Deere has introduced the new Gen 4 Extended Monitor for producers who want an additional in-cab display to more conveniently oversee their operations with two monitors. This solution is ideal for customers wanting to monitor any number of machine, implement and precision ag functions, such as planting or product application. In addition, operators can easily move pages and display functions from one display to another.

The company is concurrently rolling out its new Rate Controller 2000 that integrates with many implements for high-resolution product control. The John Deere Rate Controller 2000 is compatible with many different equipment platforms, including non-John Deere pull-type sprayers, liquid and dry fertilizer systems, anhydrous applicators and some planters.

John Deere Rate Controller 2000

The John Deere Rate Controller 2000 aids in field documentation, map-based prescription applications, and overlap control when used with John Deere Section Control activation. Users can manage the application of up to five different products, liquid or dry, and will have increased section control capabilities when making those applications. Customers will also have the ability to simultaneously apply liquid fertilizers, along with other inputs such as herbicides, insecticides, or granular products, to reduce the number of field passes and improve operational productivity.

The John Deere Rate Controller 2000 is a drop-in replacement for current GreenStar™ Rate Controller-equipped implements utilizing a GreenStar 3 2630 Display. It can be used on non-John Deere equipment such as three-point mounted sprayers and drawn sprayers when used with a GreenStar 3 2630 Display or tractors equipped with the 4600 CommandCenter.
