Check out the newest educational opportunities and learn about a feed management system created to maximize resources.

This month’s column includes an easier identification system for Outdoor Edge’s blades, an educational opportunity from the Noble Research Institute, a feed management platform from Topcon Agriculture and equipment upgrades from John Deere.

Outdoor Edge: new look, same reliable performance
World-renowned for its RazorSafe® replaceable blade system, Outdoor Edge has upgraded this entire system with new color-coded numeric identifiers that make finding the right blade for your knife easier than ever before.

Now, all blades and blade holders will be etched with a numeric code to identify the correct size and compatibility. In addition, all blade packs will feature a colored dog ear on the left corner, which will complement the color code on the knife packaging, located in the upper left corner. This new system will ensure customers are buying and using the correct blade for their RazorSafe knife.

Customers can expect to see the new, easy-to-identify packaging on shelves of retailers this summer.

Outdoor Edge is a Revo Brands company. Visit www.RevoBrands.com for more information.

Educational Opportunity from the Noble Research Institute
The new educational program, Essentials of Regenerative Ranching, from Noble Research Institute, has officially launched. Essentials of Regenerative Ranching will provide ranchers with hands-on training, practical tools, peer networking opportunities and ongoing support from experienced coaches.

The producer-centric program begins with a two-day, in-person course, which will be hosted regularly in various locations. The course, which is a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations in the field, will provide the knowledge and skills needed to start improving your soil health and your bottom line.

Topics include:

  • Understanding and applying the principles of regenerative ranching
  • Implementing practical soil health monitoring
  • Calculating current economic/financial context
  • Assessing the current condition and limiting factors of soil
  • Planning operations to decrease costs and improve profits
  • Determining initial stocking rates, carrying capacity and grazing goals

The first event will be hosted July 11-12 in Stephenville, Texas, and registration is now open. For more information or to sign up, click here. Additional dates and locations will be announced soon. For more information contact educationsupport@noble.org.

Tap Feed integrates feed management software with feed mixer scales. Feed mixers efficiently combine ingredients, forming a total mixed ration (TMR). Mixer weighing systems allow users to manage and track feed loads to improve efficiency, reduce waste and support calculated management strategies.

Two new add-ons are also available, one providing the ability to connect Tap Feed subscriptions to third-party feed management and technology such as herd management and feed suppliers. The other add-on is an advanced inventory manager allowing users to manage and track feed inventory, including input ordering features, ingredient and inventory management, re-ordering systems, inventory alerts and reports.

John Deere introduces upgrades to farm equipment
John Deere has introduced new G5 Universal displays and a new JDLink™ M modem, and is making the StarFire™ 7000 Universal receiver available as an aftermarket option. These offerings make it easy for farmers to upgrade equipment they already own or to replace dated components so they can take advantage of current and future technology.

Compared to previous John Deere displays, G5 Universal displays provide a 35% larger viewing area, three times faster processing speed and a high-definition screen. G5 Universal displays come in two configurations — G5 with a 10.1-inch (in.) display, and G5Plus with a 12.8-in. display. Farmers will appreciate the updated functionality and enhanced user experience the new displays provide. G5Plus includes AutoTrac, Documentation, and now Section Control in base, simplifying the purchase experience. With the G5 Advanced package, farmers can take their in-field productivity and performance to the next level with automation features that include AutoTrac™ Turn Automation, AutoPath™, Machine Sync and In-field Data Sharing. The G5 Advanced software license provides these valuable capabilities while providing lower up-front cost, and gets better over time; and you only pay for what your farm needs.

Introduced last year, the StarFire 7000 receiver features five years plus of repeatability, 73% faster pull-in times and is 17% more accurate when using SF-RTK when compared to previous models using SF3 signal. In addition, signal stability and reliability were improved and provide the highest level of guidance and accuracy John Deere has ever offered. Now, as an aftermarket option, farmers can add a StarFire 7000 Universal receiver to their equipment for improved functionality or to replace outdated GPS receivers for better accuracy and repeatability.

The JDLink M modem being offered can be installed in as quick as 15 minutes on John Deere and other brands of equipment and vehicles, making it possible to easily document machine and work data, and to make data transfer from those machines easier.
